What is al 7075?

Aluminum alloy 7075 is a high strength, heat-treatable alloy commonly used in aerospace and other high-stress applications. It is composed of zinc as the primary alloying element, with smaller amounts of magnesium, copper, and chromium. This alloy has high strength and toughness, good fatigue resistance, and high resistance to stress corrosion cracking. It is also lightweight, with a density of 2.81 g/cm³. Due to its strength and high cost, it is typically only used in applications where its properties are necessary, such as aircraft parts, bicycle components, and high-performance sports equipment. Despite its high strength, it can be machined easily thanks to its good machinability.
